Becca Bowen
is a school psychologist, school counselor, and former teacher.Becca has worked in public schools as a school psychologist for eleven years. Becca interacts with students, teachers, and parents to resolve difficult situations, making her familiar with many of the complex issues facing today's teens. Becca has composed hundreds of individualized reports describing the unique academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and psychological needs of children and teens, detailing recommendations and plans for addressing each person's unique needs. Additionally, she frequently corresponds and collaborates with doctors, psychiatrists, and counselors regarding the health and psychological needs of students in order to write school safety plans for issues such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. Her current position as a school counselor involves planning and implementing activities for building social and emotional growth in her students and preventative activities for addressing conflicts, building positive social skills, developing anger management skills, and dealing with loss. Her role also involves working with students and their families in crisis situations and accessing community resources for additional support. Becca’s previous experiences include nine years in the United States Army Reserves. A graduate of the Department of Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute, Becca created curriculum and conducted training in the areas of sexual harassment and racial discrimination for two Army hospitals. Becca and her husband Rick are parents of three children – two boys and a teen girl. Becca is an active member of Cedarcreek Covenant Church, serving in music, drama, and children’s ministries. Becca speaks and writes on topics related to social-emotional fitness such as conflict resolution and stress management. Becca is the primary author of the “Girl’s Only” Journals for F.I.T. Decisions and is currently working with a group of motivated young teen writers on capturing in words their personal experiences of being teenagers in today’s world.
