Don't be so
Martha.
Becca Bowen
Two
thousand years before anyone heard of Martha Stewart, another Martha was
entertaining Jesus in her home. You can read about her in Luke 10:38 - 42.
She was likely in the kitchen folding the napkins into swans, carving the
vegetables into little roses, and working in the kitchen to color coordinate
the dinner plates when she started getting really mad at her sister Mary who
was just sitting there listening to Jesus. Martha complained to Jesus about
her sister leaving her with all the work. His words to her can help us get
our own priorities straight. "Martha, Martha, you are worried and
bothered about so many things; but only a few things are necessary, really
only one, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away
from her." NASB
How many things do we worry about that are
really not that important? How much do we fill up our lives with
GOOD THINGS that aren't the best things? To help guard against being worried
about so many things, consider making it a priority to have quiet time to
listen to Jesus, and cutting out some of the other activities that keep us
too busy.
