February 2003
As we look forward to the coming of spring, let’s start new growth towards our Saviour, Jesus, just as a plant begins new growth. Proverbs 3:5-6 says "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight."
TRUST: Focus on the Lord’s character, ability, strength just as a flower relies on soil, water, and sun which results in its wonderful, pleasing bloom.
LORD: This is our Messiah who by giving his life and being raised from the dead is now living in us only wanting us to depend on Him for everything just as the flowers do not have to work to produce their beauty.
HEART: Every part of our life can be trusted to Jesus as He created us exactly as we are and just as the gardener prepares the garden for the plants He created the whole universe for us to be with Him and grow.
UNDERSTANDING: As a plant is limited in growth based on its environment, we can choose to limit our growth by using our own human understanding or we can flourish by studying God’s word and learning His plan.
LEAN: Many times a gardener will provide a support for the plant to help it reach its full growth in the best way possible. Are we thinking that we can find that support through making our own plans or finding our best support which is God’s wisdom and His will for our life.
ACKNOWLEDGE: Recognize that God has not left us alone but has given us the Comforter, His Holy Spirit, to remind us we are not alone but have Him with us always helping and caring just as a gardener watches over the plants.
MAKE STRAIGHT: Only when we trust Him with every situation can we fully blossom as it is His responsibility and desire to provide all our needs just as a flower must depend on the gardener for the best growing conditions.
Your Creator is waiting for you to come to Him as He already knows the beautiful color your life will produce if you let Him do His work. Are you feeling droopy or colorless? Then why not turn towards your sun, Jesus, and let Him show you who you really are?
