Heartfelt
Words
Diane Bagby
Do you know the best way to really learn God's word and
have it mean something to you? Do you ever wonder where you
should start when you want to study the Bible? Start where you are. What have
you or a close friend been going through lately?
Example 1: Say you saw a movie that made you scared and you're
having trouble sleeping and you're feeling anxious. Go to the back of your
Bible, to the concordance, and look up the words fear and anxious
or anxiety. Read all of the scriptures that are listed there. Usually
one or more of those scriptures will speak to your heart and calm you down.
Try to go back to sleep after reading aloud the scripture that seemed to best
fit your situation; continue to think on what you have read.
Example 2: Say you aren't getting along with your parents. Look up
the word parents and anger or even obedience and see if
any of the scriptures speak to your heart in the situation. This is a way in
which God and His word speak to us where we are. Try
it!
