A Hot Date
Elizabeth Bjorling
Has
your relationship with Jesus gotten the blahs? Here a few tips to spice up
your Jesus time:
Make a date. Pick out a time and a
nice spot with no distractions and maybe some sunlight or perhaps some
moonlight. Put on your favorite lip-gloss and that new cute pair of shoes,
just like you are getting ready for a hot date. Stock your bag with a bible,
pen, and a notebook, your music player with favorite worship songs, and maybe
a snack. Then, at the appointed time and spot spend some time getting to know
a real prince- Jesus! Read about his chat with the woman at the well in John
4. Play your favorite worship song. Grab a notebook and write a little note
about where you are- tell Him about your hopes, dreams, frustrations, your
prayers and your questions. Then listen. What words is God replying to you?
Some of those words of truth are captured in spots like: Psalm 139 and Isaiah
43.
After your first date, set another one! Not all dates have to be as
elaborate, but the more often you "date" Jesus the more real and
natural it will get. And when you come to that time with an attitude of
expectancy it changes the whole experience with the Prince of Peace!
Extra Bonus- When your friends ask you what you did last night you can
say, "I had a hot date!"
