Everyone overeats sometimes, especially at parties, celebrations, and during holidays. But, what qualifies as too much overeating? Binge Eating Disorder is a real illness and affects 3%-5% of females between the ages of 14- 30 years of age. Following is the diagnostic criteria provided by Remuda Ranch:

A teenager may be diagnosed with Binge Eating Disorder if they show at least three of the following symptoms over a 6 month period of time.

Binging on large amount of food at least two times per week for 3 months or more Eating rapidly
Eating when not hungry
Eating until uncomfortable full
Eating alone
Eating causes disgust, guilt and depression
Distress over eating binges
